William Shakespeare (26 April 1564 – 23 April 1616) was an English poet and playwright, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's dramatist. His extant works, consist of about 38 plays, 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, the authorship of some of which is uncertain. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright.
George Chapman (c. 1559 – 12 May 1634) was an english dramaist, transltor, and poet. Chapman has been identified as the Rival poet of Shakespeare's sonnets by William Minto, and as an anticipator of the Poets of the 17th century. Chapman is best remembered for his translations of Homer's Iliad and Odyssey.
